My early bloodlines were derived from the original Chipal kennel. Along the way I have used Rhone, Claratan, Shasdin, Bapton, Calrossie and Kerriwen lines.

Briala breeding came to particular prominence in the 1990s when I imported the first brindle Miniature Long haired Dachshund into Australia, Coleacre Crusader Lad (Imp UK) ('Marcus' - DOB 11/11/86). At 11 months of age Marcus quickly gained his Australian Championship and went on to stamp his excellent credentials into my lines. I credit him for providing my lines with excellent length of ribbing, shoulder angulation, topline and movement. His English style coat is still carried by my current dogs. He also had great longevity living until almost 19 years.

Marcus's son was my first home bred Best in Show winner Ch Briala Allan Border ('AB'- Born 1991). He was a stylish brindle boy as well. His son was my next winner Ch Briala Arthur Boyd ('Arthur' - Born 1997) - Shaded red. Arthur was much loved due to his amazing temperament and was consistently used as a 'child handlers' dog even flying to Perth to be used in a PAL National Junior Championship Final.

Arthur's son was Gr Ch Briala wwwdackiedotcom ('Kilobyte' - or Killer -  DOB 31/1/2000) - Clear red(above photo). Killer was a multi Best in Show winner. He had an excellent coat, topline, soundness, smart flowing movement and was a beautiful correct size. He loved to show and was a prolific winner at group and show level. His show career spanned 2000-2005. From 2003-2005 he topped the Oz Dog Miniature Long Haired Dachshund Pointscore as well as being the ACT Hound of the Year in 2003. Sadly Killer passed away after a short illness in 2013.

Then along came Killer's half-sister Gr Ch Briala Amazing Grace  ('Grace' - DOB 17/11/2001) Grace still retains the record for the most oustanding show career for any Miniature long Haired Dachshund bitch. She won 7 Best in Show awards, 10 Runner Up in Show awards and 35 Best in Hound Group awards. She won the National Dogsonline Pointscore for Miniature Long haired  Dachshunds in 2008, 2009 and was Runner Up in 2007.

Her life began with the tragic death of her mother my Ch Calrossie Camilla ('Camilla' - Born 1997) who died giving birth to her litter (7 pups). The litter was raised by a beautiful pomeranian. Grace's "Amazing" start to life was mirrored in the showring and like her half brother Killer she stamped her impression on the dachshund and hound scene. She was a very stylish shaded red bitch well known for her beautiful head, neck and carriage. While now living in retirement with my parents, she does sometimes make cameo appearances at shows.
