About Myself and my Briala Kennels
I bred my first litter Miniature Long Haired Dachshunds under my Briala prefix 35 years ago. I have had dachshunds all my life. My parents got their first show standard long haired dachshund when I was 2 years old, in an attempt to give me something to focus on (and reduce my jealousy) as my younger sister was born.
I have literally been in the show ring with dachshunds since I was a small child and it comes as no surprise that I should want my own dachshund kennel, although it was actually my husband who decided that miniature long haired dachshunds were the way to go. During this time I have successfully bred and shown Australian Grand Champions to Best in Show and other Class in Show awards at All Breeds Championship Shows.
My dachshunds have consistently top scored in the Australian national pointscores for Miniature Longhaired Dachshunds. One of my dachshunds (Supreme Ch Briala Frank N Fearless) was the top winning Miniature Long Haired Dachshund for 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014. (www.Dogzonline.com.au) His son (Supreme Champion Selkris Dakota Knight) was the Number 1 Miniature Long Haired Dachshund (Dogzonline) from 2015, 2016 and 2017. Another son, Supreme Champion Dachchimac Fast N Furious was the 2019 National Miniature Long Haired Dachshund leader and is currently leading in 2019!
I have been involved with a number of Hound, Gundog, Toy and Working Dog breeds. I have extensive experience owning and showing a successful multi Best in Show winning Pomeranian as well as award winning Shetland Sheepdogs. I have also exhibited English Setters and Cavalier King Charles Spaniels to major awards.
I am a Life Member (35 Years) and Vice President of ACT Ladies Kennel Club and also a Life Member of the ACT Junior Kennel Club and a long term member of the Hound Club of the ACT. I am a Councillor on the Dogs A.C.T.
I have extensive judging experience in all groups. I began judging 30 years ago. I am licensed by the Australian National Kennel Council to judge at All Breeds level and have judged at this level for over 18 years. I have judged internationally in Sweden, Denmark, Japan, South Africa, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, North and South Islands of New Zealand and India.
